But it won’t be easy--all she has to guide her is the voice of the deceased elder, and he seems to know more than he’s letting on...

Either my seed is wrong or I'm an idiot, but the 4th dungeon cannot be completed so I'm totally stuck (the bomb item never spawned). Such a shame as I was enjoying the game, not prepared to restart.
Launched the game for the 3rd time and found no 'continue save' option on the main menu. My save files are still in the game directory with the index file, but the game doesn't seem to recognize them
This game was insanely fun until the fight with the Chairman- the timing for hitting his ball back is bs, and why I'm giving up on this game.
This game turned out to be way better than I thought. the music is great and the gameplay is quite good.
about the music, it seems like there's a main theme throughout the game.
about the dungeons, it seems a little bit too random and some rooms have useless decorations like Zelda 1. but the final dungeon which had you figure out the layout of the main and sub areas, that's amazing.
about the gameplay, this is clearly a zelda like game. although this game isn't at all afraid to admit that. there are even lots of jokes about this in the game. I especially like the screen-scroll glitch item. it makes the player think like a zelda speedrunner.
about the overworld, the main barricades are there, but it's too random. it's like randomly drawn lines on an ms paint picture. maybe that needs some work. and the fact that it's split into two halves is just weird.
about the map and UI, it's actually pretty good. although I would rather have my character icon in the middle of a room so it doesn't cover up the room exits.
about the story, it's probably the main part of the game. I would say it's a little bit "undertale and link's awakening-ish". the game logic makes more sense than any other game I've ever seen. (for example," the hero picks up gold from enemies and spends it, that's how the economy works"lol) I didn't expect the story from its cover, so that came as a surprise. despite of that, the game had a rough start. you just walk out and OH NO i can't go back and then the hero came and died and you're like OH NO IM SO SAD and yoinks all of his stuff. it's better after that though.
about the game style, it's a great idea but ARGH WHAT THE HECK EVEN IS THAT 8 BIT ONE PLZ MAKE IT PRETTIER NOBODY WOULD WANT TO SEE THIS especially the portraits, they are weird. I bet these two game styles aren't even made by the same people, are they? Just let the guys who made the 32-bit style make the 8-bit one.
about the controls, my laptop doesn't have pageup or pagedown buttons. so I ended up having to kill myself to save and reach the settings. this reminds me a lot of playing zelda without a second controller and having to die on purpose to save.
about the puzzles, it's mainly the one at the final dungeon. the others are littered in various dungeons and as simple as a sokoban level.
overall the game is good
p.s. I don't think link's mute. it's just we're deaf. don't make fun of that
things to improve:(spoilers)
give archangel delvin a more different look than archangel lenna
make sure the player can memorize the relationship between the chairman and the others
improve the 8 bit graphics
alter the sprite for the old man so the glitched version of him has a more memorable silhouette
when you dash towards the edge of the screen the player often bounces back as if they hit a wall. plz fix
explain why is lenna a guide
explain why is lenna popular
the first bits of the story should have some significant impact on the player
make the portraits more cartoony?
umm make some parts less scary i guess
After getting the bad endings, I just replayed this on NG+ for the true ending and I have to say, this game is fantastic! Love the OST, punny writing, interesting story, and clever game design (boss fights, glasses, the DnD phone game, etc.). My first game was Link's Awakening (bomb arrows!) and many indie Zelda games tend to be forgettable derivatives, but this...this one will stick with me. Thank you!
We really enjoyed playing & discussing Lenna's Inception on Indie Game Club (it’s like a book club for indie games)! You can watch it here:
Keep up with Indie Game Club from POTIONS & PIXELS here:
Pretty enjoyable story, the gameplay may be a tad formulaic but it works. The gameplay is fun. I'll echo a sentiment I've seen a lot, in that the procedural generation may hold this back, as it makes the dungeons seem a bit more formulaic, especially in comparison to the last one, which had a much more interesting and difficult layout. The real highlight of this game (for me) was the soundtrack. It's genuinely very, very good. Big fan of Broken Showdown. Really had a good time with this game!
The story in this was great. I expected a straightforward Zelda parody, but you really developed it to a surprising extent. In particular, the "capitalist pig" joke was hilarious. I'm really impressed with how you took a Zelda cliche and managed to play it completely straight while simultaneously recontextualizing it in an aesthetic that made perfect sense, and getting a pun out of the deal too. Excellent.
I also liked the mechanic of the glitched second form for bosses. The boss' first forms were always disappointingly trivial to me, but the glitched forms were a lot more challenging and unique. I would have liked for all bosses to get that treatment, though -- the early bosses are still really trivial, especially since they're usually puzzles that Zelda fans are already familiar with.
I think the game could use clearer instruction on how to use the Power of Compassion, though. I kept trying it in battles to no effect, and eventually I thought I was only supposed to use it on the final boss. Would it be possible to give it to the player early, so they don't have to sequence break to even use it properly?
The palace could also really use a map, as other people have complained.
I really enjoyed this, and am hugely looking forward to Cassette Beasts. The only real problem I have is how heavy this seems to be for a Game Boy-styled game. It hiccups when there's a lot of monsters on screen or a few glitch effects happening at once, and sometimes the end boss slows to a ridiculous crawl. My laptop isn't amazing but it exceeds the stated requirements.
A minor improvement I would make is to allow for map notes, so you can come back to a tile/dungeon when you've got the upgrade you need. It's difficult to remember what you need to go back for.
Requires too many keybinds, for one thing. When using my controller, it's impossible to move up or down through menu options one at a time, it almost always skips one and moves by two instead, and trying to use the start button to bring up the inventory screen always double-triggers, so it opens, but then immediately closes. Keyboard works fine, but no other games I've used this controller for have problems like this. Then when trying to minimize the game during the tutorial dungeon, it froze in such a way that I couldn't even bring up Task Manager, I had to restart the computer. I don't understand how something can have so many weird issues like this. I know I'm not the only one.
I'm having the same issue with the game freezing up my whole computer. It makes the game entirely unplayable. It's a shame, because it seems like a good game.
Would you consider making a Raspbian build?
It would be really nice for people who make retro gaming consoles using raspberry pis. The cross-compiling toolchains are quite mature now and it shouldn’t be too much trouble to adapt your existing amd64 build process.
Thanks for considering it!
edit the 4Gb RAM requirement probably makes this impossible
Played and enjoyed up to the castle, then got stuck. Either I'm missing something or the random number generator generated a non-winnable world ("Virpium") for me. I have the blue key, and I can't see a way to get the green key. Either way, constantly being forced back while exploring the castle because I accidentally touched a cyan tile again has sucked the fun out of this game.
The castle isn't randomly generated, it's just very confusing. If you need help, you can look up a walkthrough for it.
i really like this game so far! there appears to be a few glitches here and there, e.g. sometimes my pet won't go into one of the areas but will come back in the next one. overall though, very good game, i love the music and it's really well done :)
Passive or hurt pets stay away from enemies- kill all the enemies and/or have a heart drop on the screen somewhere, and your pet will return- assuming it's Active via the whistle.
hmmm... I think I royally stuffed myself over. I forgot to check the library early on and now I find myself with only a handful of missing library books now that I'm at the final dungeon. I searched high and low, but all the secret caves are empty. All book spawning opportunities turned out to be meteorites.
I have seen nowhere discussing this book finding trouble. So it appears that I've been fated to a world where I can never 100%, so alas I must start over again.
The hallucinatory battle arena on the east island can be used to spawn any books you've missed!
Why is this game listed as having gamepad support? The controls are keyboard only.
Gamepad worked for me
You have to toggle the option under controls maybe?
No, I’m stupid, the 8BitDo instructions are very unclear and it’s possible to pair your controller in ways that don’t work. I’m about to send this dumb thing back.
But hmm… even with it properly paired, it doesn’t seem to work? There’s not an obvious option to enable it.
idk man, it automatically detected my knockoff Xbox One controller and just worked- maybe you have some other program like JoyToKey stealing the inputs? I had that happen a few times when switching games.
I'm so excited to try this game (I got it as part of the Bundle for Racial Equality back in June), but for some reason the game won't launch at all, even after re-installing it... (it'll just say "running"/"last played now"), but won't open :( ... is there any way to fix it...? I absolutely love how the game looks and was one of the ones I bookmarked to try first..
If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it! Thank you!! <3
Is the game suppose to flicker non-stop on boot and the menu? Cause it's like an old console T.V. that can't find the right position for the antenna to give a clear image.
For some reason, the game froze the taskbar of KDE Plasma on Linux. I tried both Linux and Windows, with Wine, versions.
One of my favourite games of all time :)))
Is there a way to completely reset the game? I wanted to record the epilepsy warning but it doesn't show anymore, even when reinstalling a new version of the game.
MacOS 10.12.6 - Couldn't play because the game kept freezing as soon as I started, had to force quit every time.
I had success on 10.14.6 by installing the current Java JDK
Then I ran the jar directly (right click the Application "show package contents" >Contents>Java>libloader.jar)
I also had to edit contents> launch-config.json so the option for openGL was set to false.
Then aside from a slower (but still plays great) framerate the game played fine.
Great look, nostalgic feeling, dark humor and a pet chicken called “Henrietta”. I love it !
This game was amazing!!
I so love all the additional game modes and tools included like making my own GIFs and altus. :)
Hello. I bought the game from the BLM bundle and played it. I gotta say it's an absolute joy, with a little of Legend of Zelda nostalgia here and there despite its procedural nature. However, the game suffers low frame rate and even crashed when I was streaming the game with Discord. Perhaps this is from the game and Discord conflict.
I LOVE this game. I've just completed the Sacrifice ending and I absolutely will be playing again for the Perfect ending. This game looks like a Zelda clone on the surface, and in its core gameplay and very bare NPC interactions that matches, but that's really where the similarities end for me. As far as the story itself and the story beats therein, it reminds me of the charm that Undertale gives off. It's clever without being obnoxious, and genuinely the "twist" after the 8th Archangel surprised me in a way that I very much enjoyed. I also appreciate the options for the art style, as well as being able to switch the glitch and flickering effects on or off (I love them, but near the end I got a headache looking at it so I was VERY thankful I could turn it off). I've been telling all my friends who bought the Racial Justice and Equality bundle that this is a "must play" for the top of their list. And anyone else--buy this and play this. It's been a joy and I'll likely play it on my (hilariously tiny) twitch channel one day soon.
I've get the game in "Bundle for racial justice and equality" ...
I tried to play ...
The game don't starts...
Really enjoyed this one. 18 hours. Completed Sacrifice and Perfect endings. The music is great. Thanks for Linux build! ^^
So, how do I go about actually running this game on my chromebook?
Yes, if you have it enabled for Linux applications it should work.
PS: You may need extra libraries.
noffing happawens wen i doburu clickuru it jus do noffing and i haff upudated windaroo's and alsuro upudated garaffics dwivers pws halpame
Mac 10.13.6, game keeps on freezing as well.
I am loving this game so far, but I'm plagued by what looks like dropped frames? The screen will stop updating for a second or so then skip ahead (I assume this isn't a deliberate "glitch effect" thing since it kept happening when I turned glitch effects off). It hasn't been a game-breaker yet, but it did make the first boss more challenging than it ought to have been. Linux Mint 18.3 / 16 GB ram / quad core 3ghz)
Does this game forbid screenshots or something? I've tried to take multiple ones via ShareX and the entire screen goes light-green whenever I try.
Mac 10.13 and unfortunately it keeps freezing. Love the game design.
I've been following this project for years and yet I somehow missed it actually be released. Congratulations!
Wonderful game where you play as a sword lesbian who goes on a date with a sexy librarian lady, and naturally the only proper date for a sword lesbian is a "Save the World" stakes adventure...
Oh and something something Legend of Zelda parody something something subversion of the genre
Mind Blown! You can see, and feel the love and care that went into this game. So much fun! Great sense of humor, amazing gameplay, memoriable characters, unique story where your choices matter. I will be relaying this one. Top notch title with quality visuals! Would recommend to all.
i love the soundtrack but i haven't seen it anywhere :(
It's not opening when I click on it; it's just opening a new window and then closing it immediately. Please help.
